NO2 · battery revenue index

What a battery earns in Norway Kristiansand

The daily BESS revenue index for NO2: perfect-foresight day-ahead arbitrage per MW — the transparent, reproducible ceiling — for standard 1h, 2h and 4h assets, methodology-versioned (BESS-v2) and never restated. Real projects earn less; the explorer haircuts it with your exact efficiency, cycles, availability and degradation — and shows what trading on our forecast (instead of a crystal ball) actually captures.

How to read these numbers

The index is the arbitrage ceiling: a battery that knew each day's prices in advance, charging the cheapest hours and discharging the most expensive at 90% round-trip efficiency, one cycle per day. It's deliberately simple — simple is auditable, and auditable is the point. Your project's number is lower: forecast error (see the explorer's Volt foresight capture rate), availability, degradation strategy, grid fees. The ceiling's job is to be the stable benchmark those haircuts apply to — comparable across every zone and every year back to 2015, through the 2021–22 crisis the newer indices' histories don't reach.

Where NO2 has the data, the API also returns the day's IDA1-arbitrage figure and the FCR/aFRR capacity alternatives — shown side by side, never summed, because the same megawatt can't do both at once. Full method, including what v2 does not model: methodology.
