Frequently asked

Which countries does the electricity price API cover?

All EU bidding zones on the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform — Germany (DE-LU), France, Spain, Italy (all 7 zones), the Nordics (SE1-4, NO1-5, DK1-2, FI), Poland, the Baltics, the Balkans and more — 43 zones total, plus Great Britain for imbalance data via Elexon.

Is there a free electricity price API tier?

Yes. The free tier includes one bidding zone (DE-LU) with 7 days of history and a 48-hour P50 forecast, no credit card required. The Home tier (€9/month) unlocks any single zone of your choice with 90 days of history and 7-day forecasts.

How accurate are the price forecasts?

We publish the answer every day at voltcast.com/accuracy: mean absolute error per zone and horizon, always compared against a naive persistence baseline. Fleet-wide, the forecast error is currently about a quarter lower than the baseline — and if we fail to beat the baseline in your zone for a month, that zone is credited automatically.

How fast do I get prices after the day-ahead auction?

Webhooks fire within about a second of our recorder detecting the published curve — typically seconds after the ENTSO-E publication that follows the 13:00 CET SDAC auction. An SSE stream is available on Pro plans.

Can AI agents use the API?

Yes — Voltcast ships a native MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at voltcast.com/api/mcp, so Claude, Cursor and custom agents can query prices, forecasts, carbon data and optimization tools directly.

Check our accuracy before you commit.

Every forecast we sell is benchmarked in public, every day, against a free baseline — and if we don't beat it in your zone, that zone is free. That's in the terms.
