What solar actually earned per MWh in Sweden Luleå this week

Solar in Luleå earned an average of 35,33 EUR/MWh this week, marginally above the baseload average of 34,82 EUR/MWh, for a capture rate of 1,06. In this northern SE1 zone, that premium is not driven by any solar fleet effect: peak solar capacity reads 0 GW on every day recorded, so what we are measuring is how the modelled solar profile lines up with the price shape rather than the impact of physical volume.
The daily picture is uneven. Capture ran above baseload on four of the five days, peaking at a rate of 1,20 on 29 August, when both capture (2,67 EUR/MWh) and baseload (2,22 EUR/MWh) collapsed to very low levels. The single day below parity was 31 August, at 0,94, with capture of 59,63 EUR/MWh against a baseload of 63,13 EUR/MWh.
The takeaway: with no installed solar capacity in play, capture here reflects price timing, not cannibalisation. A rate above 1,00 tells you daytime hours held up relative to the daily average this week; do not read it as a signal of solar oversupply.
Solar has a pricing problem it created itself: every panel in SE1 produces at the same hours, so the more the fleet generates, the lower the price each MWh fetches. The number that captures this is the capture price — the generation-weighted price solar actually earned — and the capture rate, that price as a share of the plain average.
