European day-ahead prices eased in week 2026-W28, with the fleet-wide average across 46 zones falling to 196.4 EUR/MWh from 231.53 the week before. The move was broadly downward, though the level continues to be distorted by a single outlier at the top of the range.

The Nordic north stayed cheapest: SE2 averaged 14.41, ahead of SE1 at 15.62 and FI at 16.69, all easing week over week. At the other extreme, Ukraine remained an outlier at 4580.95, with a maximum of 14973.44, well clear of IE-SEM at 164.31 and IT-SICI at 147.41. The biggest movers were dominated by declines: UA fell 1561.99, RO dropped 56.53 to 108.04, and HU lost 51.48 to 110.81.

Negative pricing was again concentrated in the continental centre. Across all zones, 250.3 hours priced below zero. DE-LU led with 50 negative hours, followed by NL at 40.5 and FR at 36, while PL recorded the week's lowest single print at -33.62. NL and FR both showed deeper lows near -25.1 and -1.43 respectively, underlining how solar-heavy midday periods continue to push prices under zero.

On our own scoreboard, we scored 17 zones and beat the baseline in 12, with an average improvement of 25.6 percent; SE1, FR and DK2 were among the strongest results, while NO5 and NO1 missed. As always, zones where we did not beat the baseline are free under our accuracy guarantee.
