European day-ahead prices rose in week 2026-W36, with the cross-zone average at 289.86 EUR/MWh, up from 252.62 the prior week across the 48 zones counted. The move was pulled higher by extremes rather than broad tightening, as several core zones actually softened week over week.

The cheapest zones were again Nordic: NO4 at 25.33, SE1 at 36.18 and SE2 at 39.85. SE1 touched a low of 2.03 and SE2 dipped fractionally negative at -0.55, though only for around half an hour. At the other end, UA averaged 4,881.36 with a peak of 14,975.73, followed by TR at 2,915.70 and IT-SICI at 221.23.

The biggest movers were UA, up 1,845.84 on the week, and the Iberian pair, with PT gaining 39.15 to 145.76 and ES gaining 38.92 to 145.52. Negative-price activity totalled 269 hours across the tracked zones, led by DE-LU with 60.5 negative hours (minimum -19), NL with 44 and FR with 27.5. PL set the extreme low at -31.83, while GB fell 33.45 week over week to 109.99.

On our own scoreboard, we scored 46 zones and beat the baseline in 43 of them, with an average improvement of 22.8 percent; strong results in RS, SE2 and LT were partly offset by misses in NO4 and IT-NORD, where our MAE trailed the baseline. Under our guarantee, those losing zones are free.
